as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting a strong culture of occupational safety, health, and environmental protection—and to make these principles a consistent part of daily operations—Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals Company (SIDPEC) successfully wrapped up a specialized training program focused on working in confined spaces. The program was delivered by SIDPEC’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection (HSE) team for employees of the Alexandria Wastewater Company. This initiative also reflects SIDPEC’s efforts to develop human capital, enhance technical capabilities, and support social responsibility initiatives that align with the Egyptian government’s goals for building safer workplaces. The closing ceremony was attended by Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim, Chairman and Managing Director of SIDPEC and sponsor of the program; Major General Mahmoud Nafea, Chairman of the Alexandria Wastewater Company; Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company; Eng. Mohamed Kamal, Deputy Director of the Alexandria Labor Directorate; and Dr Mohamed El-Masry, Assistant Director of HSE at SIDPEC, along with several senior officials from the participating organizations. The closing event included both theoretical and hands-on training for wastewater sector employees. Between June 8 and July 30, 2025, three separate training programs were conducted, reaching 200 workers from the Alexandria Wastewater Company. The sessions focused on developing rescue skills, safe practices for confined space entry, and working at heights. The training used the latest equipment provided by SIDPEC and included key technical information to ensure practical, job-relevant knowledge. During his remarks, Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim praised the SIDPEC HSE team for their exceptional work in advancing a culture of safety and environmental awareness, and for helping ensure a hazard-free workplace—aligned with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources guidelines. He also emphasized SIDPEC’s role in offering technical support and consulting to other public organizations. He extended his thanks to Major General Mahmoud Nafea and the entire wastewater company team for their valuable community-focused efforts, as well as for allowing SIDPEC to provide training and awareness support. He also acknowledged Eng. Mohamed Kamal for the role played by the labor sector in supporting workforce development, improving work environments, and enhancing employee performance across public institutions—all in support of the Egyptian government’s broader strategy. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Major General Mahmoud Nafea, Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim, and other leaders presented certificates of appreciation to the SIDPEC HSE team in recognition of their dedication and outstanding delivery of this specialized training program for Alexandria’s wastewater employees.
