within the framework of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative, "A New Beginning to Build the Human Being," aimed at enhancing coordination and synergy among ministries, government entities, civil society, and the private sector—and in line with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy to implement clear programs for preserving human capital and developing workforce skills—Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals Company (SIDPEC) organized the initiative "Your Safety Matters to Us" at its headquarters. The event was attended by Minister of Labour Mohamed Gibran, along with several heads of oil companies from the Alexandria region, as well as employees from the oil sector across the governorate, and representatives from the Central Directorate for Occupational Safety, Health, and Workplace Security. SIDPEC Chairman, Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim, explained that the initiative was held in collaboration with the Directorate of Labour in Alexandria and the Central Directorate for Occupational Safety and Health. The initiative aimed to invest in human capital by promoting a culture of safety and occupational health across all workplaces and production sites in oil companies in Alexandria. A total of 17 companies participated, with a shared goal of achieving comprehensive sustainable development. Awareness Sessions During the Event: 1. Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Protection Activities for 2024 at SIDPEC. 2. The Importance of Safety and Health in the Workplace, managed by the Occupational Safety and Health Department. A documentary about SIDPEC’s various sites and its contributions to the petroleum sector’s strategy to boost the national economy was also presented, along with the company’s emergency and evacuation plans and designated assembly points at administrative buildings. Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim congratulated the Minister of Labour on his election as Chairman of the Arab Labour Organization’s Governing Council and reaffirmed SIDPEC’s commitment to achieving the highest standards in environmental protection, occupational safety, and employee health. He emphasized the company’s efforts in providing training across all job levels and promoting the knowledge and skills necessary for the successful implementation of the Safety and Health Management System and environmental protection strategies. In his speech, the Minister of Labour stressed the importance of raising awareness among employees in all companies to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations. This, he noted, is essential to safeguarding lives, property, and visitors from workplace risks, as well as ensuring a safe working environment. He urged workers to increase their dedication and productivity to contribute to the building of the New Republic under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership, emphasizing that the initiative aims to provide services and benefits that make every Egyptian feel they are living a new beginning in various aspects of life. Closing Ceremony At the end of the event, Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim presented the Minister of Labour with a commemorative shield on behalf of SIDPEC, along with shields for the Director of the Labour Directorate in Alexandria and the Head of the Safety Office in Amreya. The Minister also honoured all attending company heads, safety managers from participating companies, and outstanding employees from different SIDPEC sites. Following the event, the Minister of Labour and company representatives toured the final product packaging unit within the polyethylene division to explore the stages of packaging after production. The packaging process, they noted, is just as critical as production itself, ensuring that products meet the highest standards.
